Description and Details

The City of Palm Springs is seeking an Executive Director for The Palm Springs International Airport (PSP). The Executive Director will serve as the chief executive leader of the airport, reporting directly to the City Manager and operating under broad policy direction. This role provides comprehensive leadership and strategic oversight for all airport functions, including operations, safety, security, financial management, and capital development. The Executive Director ensures the airport operates efficiently, complies with all regulatory requirements, and supports the economic vitality of the region. As the public face of the airport, the position plays a critical role in advancing organizational priorities, fostering stakeholder relationships, and guiding long-term growth and development initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

•Lead all airport operations, including safety, security, maintenance, and service delivery

•Direct strategic planning, capital development, and long-term airport growth initiatives

•Oversee operating, capital, and special fund budgets, ensuring fiscal accountability

•Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, including Part 139 requirements

•Develop and implement policies governing airport operations, safety, and security

•Negotiate and manage leases, contracts, and agreements with airlines and tenants

•Represent the airport before City Council, Airport Commission, and external stakeholders

•Coordinate emergency preparedness and response for operational disruptions and crises

•Navigate in a union environment

Preferred Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field; master’s degree preferred

•Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in a commercial service airport environment

•At least 5 years of progressively responsible airport management and supervisory experience

•Strong knowledge of airport operations, financial management, and regulatory compliance

•Demonstrated experience with capital development, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement

•Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) designation preferred

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $203,142 - $259,876 annually, depending on experience. An additional 5% premium (possession of a qualified Master’s or Professional Certification) is available upon verification and appointment. The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority is seeking an Executive Director. The Executive Director reports to the President & CEO, TBI Airport Management, Inc. (TBI AM); and on behalf of TBI to Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority (BGPAA) or “Commission.” The Executive Director is responsible in a leadership capacity for creating and/ or embracing the vision, mission and operational goals and objectives of the Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) and for motivating and inspiring staff to become a high-performance delivery of services organization. As the airport’s leader, establish and maintain a premier customer service focused organization guided by high standards, policies and procedures, and operating principles set to enhance the visitor, passenger, airline tenant experience. In a senior executive capacity, responsible for leading the airport during the years after the opening of the new terminal and ensuring the safe, efficient, and financially sustainable operation of the airport while advancing air service, infrastructure development, and regional economic impact.

The Executive Director reports directly to the Commission and its appointed committees and is responsible and accountable for staff’s execution of Commission mandates, program initiatives, policy statements and for operating the airport each fiscal year within the adopted budgets, and in accordance with Commission authorizations. Responsible for leadership and oversight of the solicitation, procurement, and competitive bidding of contracts in accordance with the public contract code, funding and regulatory agency guidelines. Responsible for management and oversight of all TBI staff working at the Hollywood Burbank Airport.

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree; Aviation Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or closely related field required.

•Ten (10) plus years of experience serving in a demonstrated executive capacity working within the private or public sector either for an airport, port, transportation service hub or public agency.

•Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) designation is preferred.

•Knowledge of the planning, design and construction processes in the public sector is preferred.

Salary & Benefits

The starting date for this position will be January 2027. The salary range for this position is $340,000 - $430,000 and is accompanied by an attractive benefits package. A starting salary in the upper end is possible for the exceptional candidate. An annual discretionary bonus tied to achieving TBI AM milestones is possible. The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) is seeking a Director of Properties to provide strategic leadership for the Airport Authority’s property, commercial, and real estate portfolio at McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) and Downtown Island Airport (DKX). The position oversees property and concession management, tenant relationships, lease administration including airline negotiations, real estate development, and risk management. Leading assigned staff and working across the organization, the Director helps maximize the effective use and long-term value of airport facilities, vacant land, and improved properties. This role combines commercial insight, financial stewardship, and relationship management to strengthen revenue opportunities, support responsible development, and advance the Airport Authority’s broader business objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

•Lead property, concession, lease, real estate, and related commercial management activities.

•Manage tenant relationships, lease compliance, property issues, facility modifications, and concession performance.

•Guide the negotiation and administration of leases, easements, permits, licenses, and operating agreements.

•Oversee risk management strategies, insurance coverage, claims, and tenant insurance requirements.

•Analyze concession revenues, airline activity, rates and charges, and financial trends to support planning and budgeting.

•Develop new business concepts and strategies that strengthen commercial performance and airport revenues.

•Advance real estate development through market research, strategic property planning, due diligence, and consultant coordination.

•Direct and develop assigned staff while fostering accountability, service, collaboration, and strong performance.

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in real estate, law, business administration, finance, aviation management, or an equivalent field.

•Three to five years of experience in real estate development, property management, or real estate law.

•Experience developing budgets and projecting revenues and expenses.

•Knowledge of real estate development, leases, insurance, and risk management.

•Demonstrated financial analysis, negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and people leadership capabilities.

•Familiarity with airport operations and FAA regulations is helpful.

Salary & Benefits

The starting salary range for this position is $118,504 - $154,055. An exceptional candidate may be eligible to receive a starting salary slightly above the range with approval.
