SWAAAE is seeking members interested in serving the chapter to fill five (5) Chapter positions for the 2022/23 membership year, to be elected during the SWAAAE General Membership meeting held as part of the Summer Conference in Sonoma County, CA this July. The Chapter strives for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the makeup of Chapter leadership not only in race, color, creed, ethnic background, religion, political party, age, gender or disability, but also as it relates to educational background, career level, employment classification and organizational size.
The Chapter will host a virtual forum for interested members to learn more about serving on the board, the election process, and the opportunities available. Those that are interested are encourage to attend.
Nominations Due: Tuesday, May 31, 2022, 5pm (PST)
Election: Tuesday, July 12, 2022

Positions Available
Second Vice President (1)
The positions and requirements are provided in the next section.
The 2nd Vice President is elected to a 4-year term moving progressively through the executive committee each year (2nd VP, 1st VP, President, and Past President).
Qualifications:
- Per the Bylaws, the Executive Committee rotation requires candidates be from Southern California for this election cycle;
- Served at least one year on the SWAAAE Board of Directors;
- Ideal candidates will also have a substantive understanding of the SWAAAE business model and culture
Directors (3)
Directors represent the various geographical regions within the chapter based on the airport where they are employed. The four Director positions up for election are:
- One (1) Arizona
- One (1) Northern California
- One (1) Southern California
The dividing line between Northern and Southern California subregions are the southern boundaries of Monterey, Fresno, and Mono Counties.
Qualifications:
- Executive member with at least two (2) years prior membership with SWAAAE, OR
- Are a Certified Airport Executive (C.A.E.), OR
- Are an active Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) as determined by the American Association of Airport Executives, AND
- Have demonstrated prior active participation in, and contribution to, the Chapter as determined by SWAAAE's Nominating Committee AND
- Are recommended for the nomination by the Nominating Committee
Corporate Director (1)
There are two Corporate Directors, elected by the corporate membership for 2-year terms on a rotating basis.
Qualifications:
- Corporate Member with at least two (2) years prior membership with SWAAAE, AND
- Have demonstrated prior active participation in, and contribution to, the Chapter as determined by the Nominating Committee, AND
- Are recommended for the nomination by the Nominating Committee
Additional Qualifications for All Nominees:
- Be well-respected in the industry;
- Have demonstrated the following:
- Strategic thinking and decision-making proficiencies;
- Industry knowledge, involvement, and experience;
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;
- Desirable Leadership traits;
- Integrity, disciplined, and focused attitude/behaviors;
- Have the support of their employer for the time commitment, participation, and travel when organizational support and budgets return
