Forum for Potential SWAAAE Board of Director Candidates - 30 Min. Q&A

Interested in joining the SWAAAE Board of Directors? SWAAAE is hosting a virtual forum for interested members to learn more about serving on the Board, the election process, and the opportunities available. Those that are interested are encouraged to register and join us.

SWAAAE is seeking members interested in serving to fill seven (7) Chapter Board positions for the 2023/24 membership year, to be elected during the SWAAAE General Membership meeting held as part of this year's Annual Summer Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The Chapter strives for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the makeup of Chapter leadership, not only in race, color, creed, ethnic background, religion, political party, age, gender or disability, but also as it relates to educational background, career level, employment classification and organizational size.

Available Positions
Second Vice President (1)
The Second Vice President is elected to a four-year term moving progressively through the Executive Committee each year (2nd VP, 1st VP, President, and Immediate Past President).

Qualifications:

• Per the Bylaws, the Executive Committee rotation requires Second Vice President candidates be from outside California for this election cycle
• Served at least one year on the SWAAAE Board of Directors
• Ideal candidates will also have a substantive understanding of the SWAAAE business model and culture
  
  

Directors (5)
Directors represent the various geographical regions within the Chapter based on the airport where they are employed. The five Director positions up for election are:

• One (1) Southern California (two-year term)
• One (1) Southern California (one-year term)
• One (1) Northern California (two-year term)
• One (1) Nevada (two-year term)
• One (1) At-Large (two-year term)

The dividing line between Northern and Southern California sub regions are the southern boundaries of Monterey, Fresno, and Mono Counties.

Qualifications:

• Executive member with at least two (2) years prior membership with SWAAAE, OR
• Certified Airport Executive (C.A.E.), OR
• Active Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) as determined by the American Association of Airport Executives, AND
• Has demonstrated prior active participation in, and contribution to, the Chapter as determined by SWAAAE's Nominating Committee, AND
• Recommended for the nomination by the Nominating Committee

Corporate Director (1)
There are two Corporate Directors, elected by the Corporate membership, for two-year terms on a rotating basis.

Qualifications:

• Corporate member with at least two (2) years prior membership with SWAAAE, AND
• Has demonstrated prior active participation in, and contribution to, the Chapter as determined by the Nominating Committee, AND
• Recommended for the nomination by the Nominating Committee

Additional Qualifications for all Nominees:

• Be well-respected in the industry
• Have demonstrated the following:
  - Strategic thinking and decision-making proficiencies
  - Industry knowledge, involvement, and experience
  - Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  - Desirable Leadership traits
  - Integrity, disciplined, and focused attitude/behaviors

• Have the support of their employer for the time commitment, participation, and travel when organizational support and budgets return
