BOARD ELECTIONS

Serve on the SWAAAE Board of Directors
Candidate packets due by Wednesday, May 15, 2024

The Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (SWAAAE) is seeking members interested in serving the Chapter to fill eight (8) Chapter positions for the 2024/25 membership year, to be elected during the SWAAAE General Membership meeting held as part of the Annual Summer Conference in Sacramento, CA this July. The Chapter strives for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the makeup of Chapter leadership, not only in race, color, creed, ethnic background, religion, political party, age, gender or disability, but also as it relates to educational background, career level, employment classification, and organizational size.

Nomination Schedule

Nominations Due: Wednesday, May 15, 2024, 5:00 p.m. (PST)

Election: Monday, July 22, 2024, 1:30 p.m. (PST)

Positions Available

The positions and requirements are provided in the next section.

Second Vice President (1)
The Second Vice President is elected to a 4-year term moving progressively through the Executive Committee each year (2nd VP, 1st VP, President, and Immediate Past President).

Qualifications:

  • Per the Bylaws, the Executive Committee rotation requires candidates be from Northern California for this election cycle;
  • Served at least one year on the SWAAAE Board of Directors;

  • Ideal candidates will also have a substantive understanding of the SWAAAE business model and culture

Directors (6)

Directors represent the various geographical regions within the Chapter based on the airport where they are employed. The six Director positions up for election are:

  • One (1) Arizona (2-year term)
  • One (1) Nevada (1-year term)
  • One (1) Northern California (2-year term)
  • One (1) Northern California (1-year term)
  • One (1) Southern California (2-year term)
  • One (1) At-Large (1-year term)

The dividing line between Northern and Southern California subregions are the southern boundaries of Monterey, Fresno, and Mono Counties.

Qualifications:

  • Executive member with at least two (2) years prior membership with SWAAAE, OR

  • Are a Certified Airport Executive (C.A.E.), OR

  • Are an active Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) as determined by the American Association of Airport Executives, AND

  • Has demonstrated prior active participation in, and contribution to, the Chapter as determined by SWAAAE's Nominating Committee AND

  • Are recommended for the nomination by the Nominating Committee

Corporate Director (1)

There is one (1) Corporate Director position available, elected by the Corporate membership, for a 2-year term.

Qualifications:

  • Corporate member with at least two (2) years prior membership with SWAAAE, AND
  • Has demonstrated prior active participation in, and contribution to, the Chapter as determined by the Nominating Committee, AND
  • Are recommended for the nomination by the Nominating Committee


Additional Qualifications for All Nominees:

  • Be well-respected in the industry;
  • Has demonstrated the following:

- Strategic thinking and decision-making proficiencies;
- Industry knowledge, involvement, and experience;
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;
- Desirable Leadership traits;
- Integrity, disciplined, and focused attitude/behaviors;

  • Has the support of their employer for time commitment, participation, and travel requirements
